Urmi (Rasika Sunil) is infatuated with Vishwas (Chinmay Udgirkar), a serial womaniser. She plays it off as him coming onto her after sharing a passionate kiss with him on stage. Years later, the same procedure is repeated, but with much more serious results.
“Urmi” is a fantastic illustration of a tale with potential that was poorly carried out. Put simply, it’s a creative idea executed poorly. A terrible taste is left in your mouth by the mechanical acting, story flaws, and editing mistakes.
This movie moves at a wildly inconsistent pace. Several crucial sequences appear to have been left unfinished, leading to extremely absurd leaps in reasoning and character growth. In roughly three minutes, the playboy transforms into a family man, affairs are put behind him, and performers hardly recognize the characters they are playing.
Throughout the entire movie, Nitish Chavan is monotonous, while Udgirkar repeatedly makes lip-sync mistakes. During the dancing passages, Rasika Sunil draws the audience in, but then the narrative whiplash hits hard, leaving them bewildered.
The little times that Sayali Sanjeev displays glimmers of her acting prowess are the only things that salvage the film.
Alternatively, the entire ‘Urmi’ experience leaves one with a case of cinematic amnesia, where you find yourself wondering if you missed a crucial scene only to realize it was skipped completely. If you didn’t do this, you wouldn’t miss anything.
